Committee
Members

There is one committee man and one committee woman position for
every voting district (precinct) in
Allegheny
County
.
·
All committee members must be registered Republicans and residents
of
Allegheny
County
.
·
Committee members are elected to four years terms in the
Presidential Primary Election by the voters in their respective precinct.
In between elections, committee vacancies are filled by appointment of
the County Republican Chairman at the request of the local municipal Republican
committee.

Committee members may be elected only from the precinct in which
they reside. But appointed committed
members may serve in precincts where they do not reside (but within their
municipality) if the committee position in their own voting district is already
occupied.

Duties of committee members include:
o
Distributing voters registration and absentee ballot forms to
voters,
o
Circulating nominating petitions for candidates
o
Attending monthly local Republican meetings,
o
Delivering campaign literature to the voters
o
Scheduling and providing coverage at the polls on election day,
o
Making phone calls to get out the vote
o
Organizing and assisting with Republican fund-raisers in the
community,
o
Voting for county and local party officers and endorsements.

Associate committee members may also be appointed by the local
Republican committee when all the regular positions have been filled.
Associate committee members have all the duties and privileges of regular
committee people except that they cannot vote in the County Republican
Committee’s elections. Associate
members can, however, vote at the local committee meetings and in local
committee elections. An unlimited
number of associate committee members may be appointed.
