What Do We Stand For?

Most Republicans Agree:

The Republican Party considers people capable of taking care of themselves without government interference and micro-management of their lives.

Republicans hold that most government-sponsored social welfare programs have been a disaster, not just because of their overwhelming cost, but most importantly because these programs have destroyed community, human responsibility, initiative, and hope.  And government intervention has turned our inner cities into war zones where violence and drugs are rampant and civilization has broken down.

Republicans believe that socialism, although noble-intentioned, does not work.  The solution to the ills caused by the welfare state is to return to understanding of our founding fathers who believed that the scope and power of government should be limited.

The founders of our great nation believed that human beings could only achieve real happiness when they were allowed to be free. Freedom means that people are permitted to make their own decisions in life without coercion from other people or the government. Freedom also means that individuals must accept the consequences of their own bad decisions and not blame their condition on others who are more successful.

The founders also believed that the free market would work its magic to create prosperity and opportunity for all who are willing to accept the challenges and responsibilities of freedom.

Most Republicans agree on the following principles:
